LocalSeek

Privacy Policy

LocalSeek builds its index and runs keyword search on your device. Optional cloud AI sends the current request and only the task data needed to plan or verify a result; original files and the full local index remain on your device.

Local by default

Indexing, OCR, and keyword retrieval run on your device.

Cloud AI is optional

Cloud requests require sign-in and use bounded task data.

Originals stay local

Original files and the full local index are not uploaded.

1. Scope

This policy applies to the Android application LocalSeek (package name io.junnova.offlinefilesearch), developed by Toolensa.

Opening the app, building the local index, and using keyword search do not require sign-in. Submitting a cloud AI request or making a purchase requires an email account. Accounts authorize online services and do not synchronize your local file library.

2. Data the app accesses and processes

Files and media

After you grant permission, LocalSeek reads files in shared storage to provide full-device indexing, search, preview, and organization. This may include file names, paths, file types, sizes, modification times, and content from documents, images, videos, OCR text, and PDFs.

On-device analysis results

The app creates a local search index containing extracted text, OCR results, image labels, visual embeddings, representative video-frame analysis, and file metadata. If a photo already contains capture time or EXIF location metadata, the app may add that existing metadata to the local index so it can be searched.

Accounts, searches, and settings

Registration and sign-in send your email and password over an encrypted connection. The server stores a password hash, email, verification state, installation public key, and necessary session records—not your plaintext password. Search conversations and settings are stored locally. A cloud AI request sends the current question, compact task state, and temporary result identifiers; result verification may send a necessary text excerpt or a limited derived image thumbnail.

3. Data collection, transmission, and sharing

The app uses internet and network-state access for accounts, purchases, cloud AI, feedback, and related service operations. OCR, local indexing, and keyword retrieval remain on your device. LocalSeek does not upload original files, complete documents or videos, original large images, the full index, filenames, or absolute paths.

  • Cloud planning can process the current request, language, compact task state, device capabilities, and temporary result identifiers through Cloudflare and configured AI providers.
  • Candidate verification is bounded to necessary matched text excerpts or derived JPEG thumbnails; original resources and the complete index stay local.
  • Toolensa does not sell user requests or local resources and does not use them for advertising or cross-app profiling.

Google processes Play Store installation, updates, purchases, model-pack delivery, and store statistics under Google's terms. Cloudflare, Resend, and configured AI providers process relevant online requests under their applicable terms.

4. System permissions and their purposes

  • All files access / storage read: Required for the core file-search function so LocalSeek can scan shared storage you authorize and build a local index. It is not used for advertising, analytics, or third-party purposes.
  • Notifications: Used to show the progress and status of long-running indexing tasks. Denying notifications does not cause any upload.
  • Foreground service, wake lock, and battery-optimization settings: Allow a local indexing task you start to continue while the screen is off or the app is temporarily in the background. Android's “data sync” foreground-service type is a system classification for the background task; it does not mean cloud synchronization occurs.
  • Internet and network state: Used for accounts, cloud AI, purchases, model delivery, feedback, and related online service operations.

Android 11 and later treat “All files access” as a special permission. The app explains why it is needed for full-device indexing, and you decide whether to grant it in system settings. You may revoke it at any time in Android settings.

5. Local storage and security

The index, search history, and settings are kept in private app storage or no-backup storage. The app configuration excludes these data from Android cloud backup and device-to-device transfer.

Offline operation reduces network-transfer risk, but the security of data on the device can still be affected by the device lock, operating-system security, malware, or other software with system-level access. We recommend enabling a screen lock and installing operating-system security updates.

6. Data retention and deletion

  • The local index, search conversations, and settings remain until you remove them in the app, clear app storage, or uninstall LocalSeek.
  • Uninstalling clears local data but does not automatically delete your server account, purchase records, or service accounting records. Contact [email protected] for account-data requests.
  • Server-side reliability statistics exclude query text, file paths, evidence, and images and are deleted after 90 days; billing records are retained separately as needed to deliver and restore purchases.
  • When a file is moved or deleted, its stale index entry is removed during a later scan.
  • The app's organization features move or permanently delete an original file only after you take an explicit action and confirm where Android requires it. Normal indexing and search do not modify original files.

Toolensa cannot access the local index on your device and therefore cannot inspect or delete it remotely.

7. User-initiated sharing and external apps

When you explicitly choose to open or share a file, LocalSeek uses the Android system chooser to grant the app you select temporary access to that file. The recipient's subsequent handling is governed by its own privacy policy. LocalSeek does not automatically share files in the background.

8. Support email, policy changes, and contact

When you submit in-app feedback, Toolensa receives your description, up to four selected compressed screenshots, optional contact email, and—if you enable it—the app version, operating system, and device model. Image metadata is removed. Search conversations and local files are not automatically attached. You can request deletion using the feedback reference number.

If you choose to send a support email, Toolensa receives the address, message, and attachments you provide and uses them only to reply and resolve the issue.

If the app's data practices change materially, we will update this page and its effective date and, where required, provide an in-app disclosure and obtain the appropriate permission. Existing data will not be used for a new, undisclosed purpose.
